Saving Word 2002 file as Word 2000 file

I am using an old, dos-version bibliographic program that is not compatible
with Word 2002. How can I save a Word 2002 file as a Word 2000 file, which
is compatible with my old, dos-version bibliographic program?
 
There is no essential difference between the file structures of Word 2002
and 2000. You can set Word to disable features introduced after Word 97 on
the Tools > Options > Save dialog, or you could save as RTF.
