Specifically, I am trying to save quicktime movie trailers so that I don't
have to re-download them every time I want to watch them again (I'm on a
dialup.)
Is there any way to do this? I seem to recall in earlier versions of
Windows I could find the file in my temporary internet files, but that looks
like it's changed.
Normally I use Mozilla Firefox, but I can go back to IE for this if
necessary.

Some can be saved, and some can't. It depends on how the webmaster designed the page and
the links. If the link is a direct link to the QuickTime file: right click the link and
then left click Save Target As. If the Save As box comes up with the .mov file name, then
you can. If the Save As comes up with another file type like html, then it's not a direct
link to the file, specifically put there so you can't save the trailer. Just last month I
was at the site:

http://www.apple.com/trailers/

and I could right click and use Save Target As for many of the trailers. Now the page has
been redesigned, and the links are all to html pages, that use the QuickTime plug-in, with
no way to save the file. I guess that more and more copyright has become an issue.
