What is the best format to save a movie to so it can be played back on a TV?

I have Sonic MyDVD. I have tried saving to VCD and the transitions
rendered bad. Do I just need to save to DVD instead? If so, what format
is the best to make sure the video shows the same as on the computer?

Thanks,

John

From the beginning to get best quality, you need to capture as a dv-avi
file. Edit and save as dv-avi file. Use DVD authoring software to make a
dvd. For this you need a dvd burner. If you don't have one then svcd is the
best you can get, which should be better than vcd.

I have Sonic MyDVD 5.1. Please look at the post I just made (re: Sonic
MyDVD or Roxio Easy Media Creator)

Thanks!
