Would really appreciate it if you could help me on how to save (and name)
several different filters for a specific worksheet (as opposed to e.g saving
several filtered copies of it). The is to be able to quickly choose and apply
a specific filter function to a sheet without having to set the filter values
again.
(Or maybe filters is not the tool for this?)

Sincere thanks!

You can create a Custom View that will save filter settings:
View>Custom Views>Add

Create a view with no filter applied, as a starting point, then create
views for different filters.

Try Tools > Macros > RecordNewMacro.........then do the function manually
once and then do Tools > Macros > StopRecording.......
You now have a macro to engage that particular filter..........
