saving files in word

i am unable to save a file in word. the "save", "save as" options does not
save the file. When i try to close the file, the message do you want to save
file- yes- no -cancel comes on. If you select yes to save, nothing happens.

This could be the result of a poorly designed add-in intercepting the Save
and Save As commands. If, as a troubleshooting step, you start Word in Safe
mode (hold Ctrl as you start the application and click Yes when asked to
start in Safe mode), then does Save and Save As work properly?

I was having the same problem and started in safe mode and I was able to save
a document. How do I resolve this issue when I start word automatically?

I am having this problem too and it worked to save the file in safe mode but
how do I save a document without going into safe mode?

If saving works in Safe mode, the cause of the problem is likely to be code
in an add-in or in normal.dot (normal.dotm if you are using Word 2007).

In Word 2007, you can disable add-ins via Office button | Word Options,
Add-Ins category. This is especially useful for COM add-ins.
