Saving excelfiles takes long

A

Axel Schwenke

Hi there!

There is a WinXP-Notebook with Office2000-sr1 installed.
Now it takes very long to save XL-files.
Even if I start a new sheet it takes about 5seks. to save. The filesize is
only 14kB.
A file with some graphics and about 2.2MB takes more than 40seks.
This happens while saving to our LAN and to the local harddrive.

The notebook is a P4 with 2GHz and 256MB RAM.
Only Outlook2000 is opened at the same time.

The "Journal" is deactivated on OL2k.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Axel

PS: Please excuse that multipost (also in m.p.excel.misc). But this matter
is quite urgent.

Hi Axel!

Possible cause:

Too much accumulated junk in:

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\local settings\temp directory

Close Windows and re-open to ensure that any partly installed programs
have finished with the contents of the temp file.

Find and Select C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\local settings\temp

Select all files and delete.

If you feel that’s extreme, just copy them to a new location before
deleting but remember that you can delete them later.

Try Excel again.
