Hi

Hope someone can help me. I am trying to save some
simple data in an excel spreadsheet into a .csv file.
The data is 2 columns of data, and 1 column of numbers
(no forumla in the cells). When I save it as .csv it's
fine, but then when I've closed down the file and re-
opened it, it has put decimal points into the column of
numbers! I then find I have to reformat the column every
time I open the .csv. This is proving particularly
problematic, as I am trying to use the .csv file as a
source doucment I can uponload into another programme,
and the other programme isn't recognising the data as it
has decimal points in it. Does anyone know how I can get
around this problem in Excel 2000? (I've never had this
problem with any other previous versions...)

Thanks

Jen

Try putting an ' in front of your numbers. That or format the cells as a number with no decimal place. Hope that helps

Jen,

After saving, open the file with Notepad. It will show you exactly what
Excel wrote to the file. Upon reopening it, Excel will mess around with the
formatting
