Saving Credentials

Eric Stott

I am connecting to a wireless router via Network Authentication of WPA, with
TKIP encryption.
The EAP Type is PEAP, I am not authenticating as computer when computer
information is available, nor am I authenticating as guest.
The properties of PEAP, is that I do not validate a server certificate, I
used EAP=MSCHAP v2 as the Authentication Method, (not using Windows logon
name and password)
and also Enabling Fast Reconnect.

However, I often am kicked off the network, and in order for me to
reconnect, I need to supply a particular username and password in the
credentials dialog box.

Is there any way for me to save this information for it to automatically use
this username and password.

I have found plenty of places that show how in the registry to delete these
credentials
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823731), but no
where does it say how to save them so I don't have to type in the user id
and password each time I get disconnected.

If you can use the same user name/password that you logon to your computer
then if you enable "automatically use Windows logon name and password" I
would think that may solve the problem. I don't know of any way to save
alternate credentials. You might check with those that manage the wireless
network to see if they can tweak their wireless settings such as
timeout/idle periods in their Remote Access Policies. --- Steve

The person who helped me set it up is the person who manages the wireless
network, is there documentation on timeout/idle periods in their Remote
Access Policies.

For a Windows server acting as IAS for wireless authentication you can open
Remote Access Management Console and go to Remote Access Polices and select
edit profile for that being used for your user account which may be the
same for all users. Check the options under dial in constraints such as the
one for sessions timeout that he may want to try increasing or configuring.
It may also help to look in the logs on that server via Event Viewer to see
if any events are being recorded that may explain your disconnections. ---
