Saving a record

Hi Guys and Gals

Is there a quick and easy way to save a record in a form using code?

I have a form that allows data entry and it has a number of table fed combo
boxes. If the user fills out the form, but leaves one of the combo boxes
blank and then clicks the close button to close the form, the record is not
written AND access shows no error to say that it tried to write the record
but couldn't because a required field was missing. Rather than create an
enormous amount of code to check if all the necessary details have been
filled out, I want to force a record save when the close button it clicked
so that Access will show an error message.

Maybe this isn't the best way to do this.
