Saved format changes gone when db reopened.

I'm running Office 2003, using the Access program.
The data is still there, and I can enter and save new data with no trouble.
I can also sort the data alphabetically, and rearrange and resize the
columns with no trouble. However, after saving the db (no error messages),
and then reopening it, all the columns are back in their original position
(not what I want), all back to a standard width, and the sorting I had
performed was gone (no longer in alphabetical order).
Everything was fine up until a few months ago, and I wasn't doing anything
unusual when this occurred.
Any ideas what may be causing this?

Are talking about the format of a table, form, or report. The format of a
form or report should not be changing.

We're talking about the format of a table...my other db, also a table, is not
giving me this trouble.

Table datasheets are not intended as a user interface. If you want to see a
datasheet with certain visual attributes build a datasheet form instead.
