save word document as a in bitmap format

Why not take a screendump/printscreen? You will need to reduce the zoom to
get it all in. Also try using Snagit from Techsmith. You can download a 30
day free trial.
 
Are you using Word 2007? If so you can download an add-in from Microsoft
that will allow you to save as a PDF. This way you can't change the document
which, I am assuming, is why you would want to save aas a BMP.
