One of our client has reported that the Save Text With Layout option is no
longer supported in Office 2003; is this correct? They have installed Office
2003 Standard Edition.

I have installed Office 2003 Professional on my machine and this option is
available for selection from the drop-down list, but is this a result of
previous installation of Office XP?

Is there a download available for this save as file type?

I don't have it on my machine and I have all the available converters
installed plus quite a few older ones. I had not missed the ansi text
converter until now. If you have it, it is probably a hangover from an
earlier installation that has not been neutralised by security updates to
Windows. Take a look in the text converter folder - C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv - and see if you have a file with 'ans' in
the filename. If you have, I would appreciate a copy for the purposes of
experiment - mail via my web site.

Thanks Graham. I did check but I have NO files with ANS in the file name or
as a file extension in the folder you suggested.

The only file that I can find that is remotely associated with text with
layout is TXTLYT32.CNV. We manually copied this file to the folder indicated
on a newly build PC with a clean install of Office 2003, but still no luck.
We can not see the option in the Save as list box for Save Text With Layout.
If only we could identify which file is responsible for this option to be
available, we can copy it manually where it is required to test. This is
becoming critical for us and our clients, as there appears to be a loss of
bacwards compatibilty and previously available features.
