Save Selected Slides as a New File

So many times I am working on a PPT and want to save only certain slides into
a new PPT.

Right now I delete the slides I don't want, then save as a new file. Then
close the file and re-open the original.

Wouldn't it be great if you could select (highlight) the slides you wanted
to save in the slide sorter view, and then click "Save Selected Slides As"

I know this is just a suggestion for Microsoft, but I wanted to let you know
that you currently have a couple of options for doing what you're suggesting:

1) You could save the desired slides as a Custom Show (Slide Show > Custom
Show) then play only that custom show (Slide Show > Set up Show then select
the custom show you want to play). This keeps your main presentation in tact
and allows you to set up variations to play on demand.

2) Hide the slide you don't want to show. Select the slide(s) you want to
hide the select Slide Show > Hide Slide. You can unhide these slides for
other presentations.

This seems like a very cumbersome way to go about it. I often want to save
selected slides as I send them out to customers and partners, and even
co-workers. But there are times when I don't want them to see the entire
presentation and just "hiding" the slides won't work.

Great! - does that mean we can expect this feature in a future PowerPoint
release?

Unfortunately, no one here speaks for Microsoft. I like your idea, but that
doesn't count for much.

Thanks for the response, and I have tried that. But take a look at how many
steps you went through to get to the end result. It's easier to just delete
the slides you don't want and click "Save As"... but it still doesn't solve
the problem I described originally.

You can, by using this free add-in from Bill Dilworth:

See if this works:
Minimize everything but PPT.
Reduce the size of the PPT window so that some of the desktop is showing.
Go into slide sorter view in PPT.
Select all the slides you want to use in a new presentation.
(use Shift click or control click)
DRAG the selected slides to the desktop.
An icon named SCRAP will be created for you.
Double click on the scrap icon.
A new presentation should open in PPT, with your selected slides.
