save pic as .bmp / view offline problems

in ie6, when you right click an image to save it, the save picture box only
allows me to save an image as a bitmap. until a week or so ago, it would
save images as jpegs. this problem is not seen with the other 2 user
accounts set up on the pc. they are able to save as a jpeg. ie6 advanced
properties are identical settings for all 3 users on the pc. i'm stumped.
virus defs are up to date, no other conflicts with the system, its very
stable. even tried a system rollback to earlier date.
also, i am now not able to view web pages while offline, regardless if the
view offline box is checked or not.
has anyone seen any of these probs?
thanks if you could let me know.

For the first, empty your browser cache, and you should be alright.

As for the second, any other details? Error messages?

Clear the Temporary Internet Files. In IE>Tools>Internet Options>
Delete Files button. And check the box to Delete Offline content.
