"Save In" Drop Down not working

When I try to use the "Save In" drop-down box in any application it just
locks up that application. I can use the buttons on the left to navigate ("My
Computer", "My Documents", etc.), just not the drop down box.

I'm guessing it's something to do with the explorer shell, but I'm not
really sure how to fix it. Any ideas?

We are having the same problem. First noticed it when I try to "save as"
from any Office 2003 program. It locks up my computer. Then noticed I
cannot open any of my files that are in Office 2003 programs. Then noticed
that I cannot open any folders (files) in MS Explorer. This is driving us
nuts because I cannot get to any of my saved files. The skinny on the street
is that MS messed up a security update which is causing the problem. Now
what do we do?

So is there a fix for this. I am having the same problem. Last night I was
able to repair by restoring and then going into detect and repair through
Word and that worked but I guess because I took the update out. Not sure. but
I hope this gets fixed fast. I can't save anything through MS office.

Sorry Bob I am new to this board and didn't relieve there were instructions
for fixing the problem. I did follow them and it seems to be working for now.
Let's hope it stays that way. Thank you..

You're welcome, no need to apologize. I suspect it will stay fixed till
the next problem/exploit/hack comes along. Have a good one.
