Save as is reducing file size

I have a Powerpoint presentation that I open, do a save as, to create a copy,
and the file size is noticeably smaller. Any ideas?

I have tried this with the 'Fast save' option on and off with no difference.

This is because Fast Save appends only changes in the presentation of a ppt
file instead of overwriting the existing content.
