I'm having a new problem with downloading files of every kind within
IE6. I'm using XP Home SP-1.
When I try to download a file (both left and right clicking), the FILE
DOWNLOAD dialog box comes up correctly. If I choose OPEN, the file
downloads correctly and then runs. But if I choose SAVE, the dialog
box switches to show the progress indicator (and the "Close this
dialog box when download completes" message) and freezes before any
downloading begins. I am able to close IE6 and, after about 15
seconds, the frozen dialog box.
I've tried reloading IE6, but no luck. I then tried reloading (using
the REPAIR option) XP, but still no luck. After the repair, I did all
of the XP Windows Updates, but still no luck.
I feel as if some essential file has been corrupted, but one that
wouldn't get overwritten by a reinstall or repair of XP or IE6.
Anyone have a solution?
Thanks.
