save addresses for auto complete

When Ii compose letters etc. In order to save time, and save my troubles next
time I write, I want ti be able to save address for reinsertion using auto
complete. As per the very efficient 'auto complete' system I previously had
on my old excellent WORD version 2002. I shall be very annoyed if investing
much money I can really ill aford to buy and install VISTA, if this version
of WORD does not have it.
To date I am not very impresed with this version of WORD. Much prefer WORD
2002. VIST'a version is proving to be 'too clever' and too complicated.

The new version of Word is 2007. Vista is an operating system.
There is no autocomplete function associated with autotext in Word 2007. The
simplest solution is to add those items you want to be automatically entered
to autocorrect. Or you can type sufficient of the autotext name to be unique
and press F3 to enter it.

Sad and annoyed no auto complete in Word 2007. Which I am now using. Your
info was helpful to me; but I am 81 years of age and really only a novice at
this technology. Could you please rewrite info giving me step by step
instruction. For instance if I write an address on a letter, then select all;
how do I save (you instruct pressing F3) and how do I retrieve it? With auto
complete all I had to do was enter the first word of the address, and the
full correct address would be inserted. This used to save me an enormous
waste of time and having to remember, each time, where the addresses were.
Regards and thanks

It works pretty much the same now except that instead of entering the first
few letters and pressing Tab or Enter, you type the first few letters and
press F3.

Dear Suzanne; sorry, but it just does not work. I typed a usual 5 line
address in a blank letter page in Word 2007, then I selected all. Then I
pressed F3 as per your instruction. Cleared all, then opened up a new blank
letter page, positioned the cursor where I wanted the address to re-appear on
that page, and pressed F3 again. But nothing was displayed on the page. Or,
maybe, I have done something wrong? But I complied with your instruction
activating F3 twice. Any advice appreciatively received.

My instructions were based on the assumption that you were trying to insert
an existing AutoText entry. It sounds as if you had not previously saved the
selection as an AutoText entry. To do this, you must press Alt+F3 and give
the entry a name. You then enter the first few characters of the entry name
and press F3.
