Save a mesage in the "sent items" without the attachment

Hello,
i'm using Microsoft Outlook 2000 as my email program.
I was looking at the "sent items" folder and it's taking a lot of space on
my local drive because it's saving the messages with the attachment included.
I have already that file in my drive, i use "sent items" folder to see the
date when i 've send that message or the file. Do you know any way how to
save a ''log'' in the sent items folder, insteed of the entire message?
