SATA hard drives recognized as IDE?

Specs - MSI P6N SLI Platinum, Intel C2D 2.4 E6600, 4X512 Kingston
800MB, 2 Seagate Barracuda 500G SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drives, NVIDIA 650i/
430i chipset, ASUS en8600gts video, Y-E multimedia reader, Plextor
810SA DVD, Vista Home Premium.

I thought I remembered seeing the SATA drives recognized as SATA on
POST in the beginning but after installing drivers from the CD that
came with the mbd, they appear as "IDE". When I copy data from disk to
disk the speed is about 200 Mb/s. Updated the NVIDIA driver for 650i
chipset and no change. Is this a driver problem? Shouldn't I be
getting speeds greater than 1.0Gb/s? Should I UNinstall the drivers
that came with the mbd?

Thanks,
bcwd

There's no problem. SATA2 is only 300Mb/s so 200Mb/s is about what is
to be expected.

What it identifies it as is irrelevent as long as it works as it
should.
