I have a GA-7A8DW main board and a SATA ST320082 2AS drive. when copying
large amounts of data
to the sata drive i get a pageing timeout. I have updated to the latest bios
and downloaded a windows driver
from giga-byte to fix the listed problem.

when i install the driver update in windows the driver is accepted however
on reboot i get a bluescreen stop
and reboot cycle so i have to load last known good config.

i'm thinking i can't install the driver in windows and will have to do a new
xp install with F6 to load the new driver.

this would suck. is there anyway to install the driver at boot without
re-intsalling xp again ?

Whats thier "fix" for.specifically to what device or software is the
download head-
ed,SATA controller ?? If thats the case,what brand is it,if intel,you
should down-
load all controller drivers from them. Also,a page timeout usually deals
with mem-
ory,or lack of it.Also chk event viewer for more details...

the fix is specific for the sata siliconimage controller chip on the board
and the seagate hdd.

so when i update the driver in windows, xp will BSD on restart.

i think i may have to reinstall xp fresh and F6 it which will suck.
