Sata Drive

Chris

I have just installed xp sp2 onto a new 320GB seagate sata drive. I did not
load any sata drives on install but xp loaded up fine. Will this drive work
to its full potential or will I have to go back and do a fresh install but
load the drivers when requested.

I can only find reference to IDE controllers in the device manager.
Suppose i`ll have to start again from scratch although i`ve not got a floppy
drive i`ll install one temporary to get me through this. any alternatives
would be useful
Thanks

Under Device manager does it have a Storage Controller heading?? and does it
list your SATA Controller??
If You view devices by connection is your HD shown as connected to that
controller??
If none of the above show you will need to Install the SATA drivers that
came with your mobo.

It's fine, my segate is the same. Pluged in, format, use.
Re-installed xp and loaded the SATA/RAID drivers at F6 prompt, it still
does not show up in device manager but seems to be working OK, could it
be because the MOBO has an on-board SATA controller ?. I`m going to call
it a day at this point, everything seems to work so i`ll leave well
alone as I have not got half a day to spend loading xp again
Thanks to all for your help
