Norton AntiVirus has a free removal tool at:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sasser.removal.tool.html
You may wish to run this in safe mode. To accomplish this, press F8 as
Windows boots up. You will also need to temporarily turn off system restore,
so that you will not be re-infected if you ever decide to restore to a
previous restore point.
To do this, open system restore from the All Programs\accessories\system
tools menu. The "turn off system restore" is located in the settings dialog
box.

HTH

First..abort the shutdown..that way your comp won't reboot
to do this go into your command prompt (start, run, cmd)
then go to the site to download the patch..or run
hijackthis.exe then run microsofts program that
eleminates sasser
i did all of these steps and my comp runs like brand
new.
Words Straight from a semi-expert.
Remember, the only safe computer is one up on a shelf in
a wearhouse unplugged.
