Samsung TSScorp CD/DVDW SH-W162Z slow CD or DVD burning in vista

OS: Windows Vista Vista
P4 2.8ghz HT, 1.5gb memory, 160gb HD.

Ok i have a Samsung DVD-writer SH-W162Z and notice that cd or dvd burning is
very slow and sometimes the CD or DVD in the drive would spin for a while. I
think i saw a new firmware for the drive that say Windows Vista support. Will
upgrading the firmware make a difference at all? or is it just my hardware.
