Samsung ML-2510 B&W laser for only $79?

Today's Staples advertisement offers the Samsung MO-2510 B&W printer for
only $79. I'm going to be setting up an accessory office in my girl friend's
house which I won't use often so I'm in the market for a cheap B&W laser. I
don't care if it's not fast, as long as the print looks good and it won't
fall apart for at least a few years.

Comments?

My home office has an HP LaserJet 1320 which I like a lot.

oops- that's at Best Buy, not Staples

Do they have any left?
Yeh. I just came home from Best Buy. At 8:50 am when I arrived for the 9
am opening, there was a line of 90 people long. I call it The Black Friday
Practice Session.

They were there all to buy that printer?

I just went to my local Best Buy- they don't have it in stock but can get
it- but, the cartridge cost $84!

I'm still laughing.

Enjoy it. Life is short.

But you never pay list price, do you? I sign up for Office Max and Office
Depot programs that give you a bar code to scan with pruchases. In return
they send offer like $10 off of $75 or $20 off of $100, sometimes directed
specicically at copiers (those tend to be 10% or 15% off however). Unless
your toner has died, start looking and you'll find at least a 10% discount.

I haven't tired them because of negative reports here, but I save my old
toner cartridges against the day I might want to have them refilled.
With Samsung I think you have to be careful because somewhere I recall
reading that they mill their toner to be extremely fine, which is probably
who generic refills don't give dark results--the toner is too heavy.

The cartridge that comes in the printer may be a "starter cartridge"
with considerably less toner in it that the replacement.

But, $84 is a rip off! I'm sure if I shop around on the net, I can get it
cheaper- but charging that price in a place called "Best Buy" sure ain't
much of a best buy.
