The '"safely remove hardware" icon is in my system tray and when I
click on it it lists my hard drive as being safe to remove. I have
just one HDD which is plugged into the SATA 1 port on the mobo. How do
I get Windows to NOT show the "safely remove hardware" icon?

Thanks!!

It is likely an 'option' of your sata controler, some are hot swapable. You
could see if an update, chipset or sata, is available on your mobo site.

Would this be, by chance, be a system you put together, with an Nvidia based
motherboard?
I have an Nforce4 motherboard, with 2 ea 250 gb Sata hard drivers, and found
that intalling the Nvidia IDE SW drivers, caused that icon to show up for
my sata drives.
I removed my motherboard drivers, due mainly to troubleshooting a problem,
reinstalled them, only this time did not install the Nvidia IDE SW driver,
and that safely remove hardware icon no longer shows up for my sata drives.
My system runs just as well, and more stable, without that IDE SW driver,
than it did with it, and I no longer have that annoying icon.

Hope this helps,
