Safely Remove Hardware Icon

I purchased a Creative Extigy-2, USB sound hardware device. Since installing it, I now have a "safely remove hardware" icon in my taskbar, that doesn't go away.
Is there a way I can remove it from the taskbar, & just use the add/remove hardware wizard, or am I stuck with it in the taskbar

Thanks
