I have a trojan problem listed on this NG.

The net + individuals are telling me to run my spyware progs in SAFEMODE.

I CAN'T USE SAFEMODE

I think it's bust?

When I select safemode, the computer whirs away, loads of writing appears on
screen, then the monitor switches itself off whilst the computer carries on
whirring away.

Even when left, the monitor doesn't come back on. I have to restart and use
windows as normal.

How can I get safemode to work?

Hmm, that's interesting. Are you using the F8 key to get to Safe Mode?

Does your monitor have an automatic "sleep" mode after a minute or so of
inactivity? If so, touching a key should turn it back on.

What have you tried so far to fix this? Also describe your system and BIOS;
someone with the same system might have had the same problem.

Any chance you have a bootable CD around that you can use to get into Safe
Mode with? Unless you're experienced I wouldn't use the XP CD for that
because it's easy to mess up your installation that way.
