Hi,

I am running Windows XP SP2 Home Edition and have a problem.
When I use the F8 key at bootup I get the Windows Advanced Options Menu but
the Start Windows Normally is highlighted and I can not get to Safe Mode. In
fact I can't even start windows normally and have to reset the computer.

I can go into safe mode by using msconfig but of course that won't help if I
get a problem and can't boot my PC.

I ran the SFC scan to check all the system files.

Thanks for any help,

Frank

Since you can use msconfig to get into safe mode, it would appear that
something is getting loaded on a normal startup that causes the problem. You
can use msconfig to selectively disable things that mght be causing the
problem.

Are you using a USB keyboard? If you are then set your BIOS to use USB
legacy devices.

William,

You were right. I enabled the USB function for DOS and it works fine.

Thanks to you and all others that responded.
