Windows XP Home SP2,custom Built computer,1024MB RAM
I am not able to start in the SAFE Mode. It boots ok in normal mode.Pressing
F8 during boot up has no effect. It boots in normal mode.F8 key works ox in
other applications. The computer is virus/spyware free since I update andscan
weekly using Adaware,Spybot,MSAS,Spysweeper,Hijack this,CW shredder and also
online Housecall,Panda Activescan.This problem is occuring sicne last 7
months. It is also upto date with windows updates. The computer manufacturer
says it is xp problem.Microsoft will not provide free support since it is OEM
retail copy.
How do I solve this problem.Your help is appreciated.

Some users who cannot get into Safe Mode after applying SP2 have
identified the problem as being caused by Nero's InCD 4.3. Going back
to an earlier version fixes this, although Nero has an update on their
site. Perhaps this is your issue.

Either that, or you are missing the very brief window of time in which
to press F8. You can try repeatedly tapping the key as the computer is
starting up. If you still can't get in, you can use the Boot.ini tab
(msconfig) to check /SAFEBOOT which will boot you into Safe Mode. Don't
forget to uncheck it afterwards.
