Runtime errors. debug?

I have XP pro. I keep getting these errors messages and answering yes or no
doesn't seem to do anything to clear up the problem.

Error

A runtime error occured. Do you wish to debug? Line:116. Error: object
expected

I chose some of the options on the XP installation CD to no avail. I think
the options were, check for changed system files, update XP. I also upgraded
to service pack 1. Not only do I getthese error messages often, but after a
time IE won't find web pages (this page cannot be displayed) ad I have to
reboot to fix that

Any suggestions?

Disable script debugging and script error notification.

I have tried what you have suggested as I have the same error message
as GERRY, when i make the changes you suggest each page comes up with a new
message saying that the page has errors. What else can I do?
