runtime error

when I open Internet Explorer to use my Yahoo home page or
mail or nearly anything, I get this error message:
A Runtime Error has occurred
Do you wish to Debug?
Line: 1
Error: Invalid character

I have tried to use the script debugger, but have no
success nor guidance to using it.
I have tried updates, thinking the patches from Microsoft
might solve the problem, but no.
I am ready to use IE on a regular basis, but cannot
tolerate the runtime error messages every time I need to
open a new page. I could switch to Netscape, but would
rather be in Microsoft IE if possible.
I want this fixed, but cannot do it myself, apparently.

Common script errors messages can be eliminated by Clicking:
Menu: Tools - Internet Options - Advanced tab.
Check "Disable script debugging"
Uncheck "Display a notification about every script error"
