Runtime error when attempting to open IE6

I wish to resolve the following problem with internet explorer.
When i attempt to open internet explorer i get the following error message
and IE does not open.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library

Runtime error! program C:\programfiles\internet explorer\iexplore.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way
Please contact the applications service support team for more information

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling the Google toolbar using Control Panel-Add/Remove.

Try uninstall Google toolbar from Control Panel -> Add/remove programs.
