runtime error 13

hi
i keep getting a "runtime error 13 type mismatch" when ever i try to open a
item on my desktop not always but sometimes now then it makes my desktop
refresh ,i tried the control panel /reginal settings but it looks to be all
ok still i even reinstalled windows over itself to see if it would fix any
messed up file but still get this error ..any ideas out there .......

Do you get the same problem in safe mode? I am wondering if there is
something loading on boot that is causing this.
