Running a Scan

Can you schedule Defender to do a scan while the computer is off, say during
the night. Or does the computer have to be running for a scan to work.

No, it won't. If your machine was on standby, it might wake it and scan.

Hi Denise, The computer has to be ON, and A - or - THE user has to be logged
on.
I do not know what happens when the computer falls into STAND-BY mode.
I expect that a scan does NOT work, because standby is like off position, I
know that an incoming call on for instance fax-software "wakes-up" the
computer, but I expect that Windows Defender does not! Jan van den eeden -
