running a program without a window

I have a program that doesn't need a window. When I start it up, like by
typing in program.exe in the Run... option on the Start Menu, it opens a
Command Prompt window. I don't want it to have a window because it's just
extra junk on the taskbar. It doesn't have any input or output, it just
runs in the background, waking up occasionally to check system status.

How do I set up my program so it will run without a window?

Thanks,
Cameron

Only if you run it as say the system in the background, start it with
task scheduler.
