Rundll32 has stopped working?

Whenever I open anything on my computer I get a message that says, Windows
Vista's Host process (rundll32) has stopped working. Could someone please
tell me what rundll32 does in the first place and could you give me some
suggestions as how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

The Event Viewer will give you access to the Windows logs. When something
like this happens Windows writes an error to either the System log or the
Application log or both. There are also other troubleshooting and reporting
tools in Windows.

Post back with some details of any errors in the logs.
