Thank you for your advice I have done the following in this order,
1 disabled system restore
2 In safe mode scanned computer with up to date Norton Anti Virus,
results showed no infections
3 scanned with anti-spy results equals no infections
4restarted computer in normal mode
5 restored system restore
But when i start up my computer I still get the same message
c:\windows\downlo~1\Axfilter.dll Error Loading
Have I done something wrong or maybe not in the correct order?
I am using windows xp
Can you please also explain why you advise against installing driver
updates from windows update as i have always installed these updates
so far

Since you didn't post to your original thread or give any references,
I'm guessing as to the problem. I did a Google for "Axfilter.dll" and
came up with several different references to CnsMin malware. Here is a
link to an eTrust site (link needs to be entered on one line in your
browser's addressbar, or just do the Google search yourself):
http://tinyurl.com/4lqfk
%3Fid%3D453072511+Axfilter.dll&hl=en
My guess is that you have removed the malware and there is still an
entry for it in Startup, although there is always the chance some bit
of the bad stuff is left. To stop the error message, go to StartRun
and type (without quotes) "msconfig" [enter]. This brings up the
System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab and find the
culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply and OK out. You don't
need to restart immediately, but the next time you do you'll get a
dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick the box that says in
effect, "don't bother me about this again".
Make sure you are running a firewall.
The reason I, and many others, say not to install drivers from Windows
Update is that in our experience they can cause a lot of problems. If
all your hardware is working properly, you don't need to update your
drivers unless you know there is some new functionality you want.
Usually that would be for video and sound cards to help play a new
game. With drivers, the rule of thumb is very much, "if it ain't broke
don't fix it".

"Don't Panic"
this got on my computer, I had a chinese student who stayed last year
who used my computer to send e-mail home to China and she assured me
she had removed it before she left, although I did still get chinese
text on my computer for a while after she had gone. I did manage to
remove chinese text (can't remember how) but obviously did not do it
correctly. I also hope I have replied to the thread correctly this
time, in case I haven't original query was RUNDLL error, error message
on start-up
Error loading c:\windows|DownLo~1\Axfilter.dll re cnsmin
Once again ,many thanks.
