Hi all,

As soon as the desktop loads on my comp (5.1.2600 winodws xp Service Pack 2
build 2600 Home edition) an error message box appears saying:

RUNDLL
ERROR LOADING w0014c65.dll
The specified module could not be found.

When it first appeared I tried system restore, still there. Next was
antivirus, spyware etc. still there. Today I found this lovely site have
searched through quite alot (but not all, eyes got very tired) questions on
DLL error messages. I downloaded CC cleaner and Dial a Fix v0.6.0.0.24 and
ran both of these in safe mode. The Bl**dy error message is still
there..ARGHHHH.

Can somebody PLEASE help me get rid of it? I'm not sure but since it
appeared everytime I try and manually download windows updates, for example
WMP ver 11 they load but will not install. Could this error be causing that
problem to, or do I have 2 lovely comp problems to fix???

Thanks all in advance for your help.

Hi Tigress,
First try to Log into safe mode and uncheck this from the startUp by doing
this:
Open a run command and type in:
msconfig click [OK] then on the System Config click on StartUp Tab and
deselect this from starting up close the Sys Config window.
Then run Disk Cleanup on your partition(s).
Open the Local search engine and search for this File w0014c65.dll then
find all and Rename them to w0014c65.dllOLD Reboot your achine and start
in Normal Mode, does the error creep up?.
If it didn't then that good news, try to use or open most of your
applications and see if one will nag you about it or not which I believe it
will not because it looks fishy to me this file anyway!.
Run a through Scan for Viruses with your Anti-Virus and Anti-malware then
run an online scanner from here:

1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.
How to manage Add-Ons:

Run a scan from here on-line:

http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-gb/default.htm

Download Avast Cleaner from here:

Lots of tools to download and disinfect your machine:

Download the Hijackthis and send the report to one of
many
forums for analysis and troubleshooting:
When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. Post
your log to http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?showforum=7, or other appropriate
forums for expert analysis, not here.

<optional for use even after the cleaning::>
Then download these tools to see the running processes in real-time and you
can search them to make sure they are Legit.
