Said it before,Firefox doesn't need any special versions to run from
USB. Neither does Thunderbird. The instructions are in the mozilla help
advanced section... [...]

You're right, all right. I just tried this with Firefox 1.0.6 and found that
once I copied my profile and plugins folder to the new application folder,
it's working perfectly. Thanks very much for pointing this out. Makes me
wonder what the point of Portable Firefox and Portable Thunderbird is,
really. Is there *any* advantage?

I've been doin this ever since I found it in the help section.Love it
when I use a pc somewhere else and all they have is IE.(also have all
the bookmarks and mail all the time. a couple of xcopy bat files keeps
the profile folders synced with my desktop.

G would be my flash drive in this bat file.

this line puts the profile on the flash drive

xcopy "C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
\ufb97u81.default" g:\ufb97u81.default\ /s/d/y

Just reverse the Bat file to update the desktop after using the flash drive.
Just substitute your particular profile names(its the same for Thunderbird)

couple of quick notes

might want to clean the cache in Firefox before copying(bunch of useless
temps)
and in Thunderbird if you change your mail folders and newsgroups a lot
you might be better off using XXcopy with the /CLONE switch
