Run/Command Window flashes on screen and disappears

Hiya Folks,
Maybe someone has heard about thius b4. When I open the
command window via START > RUN > IPCONFIG in Win XP Pro
the command windows flashes the details up for about a
1oth of a second and then disappears again.

At this point, I don't want to do a reinstallation, but
if that's my only option then so be it.

I'm just hoping that there may be another fix...

it will do
the program exits once run

start a cmd window
start/run type command
then type ipconfig into the cmd window that opens and it wont close
