"Run As" a domain user from a stand alone PC?

I have a stand alone PC running Vista (not joined to a domain), but
when I am in one an office that uses a domain, I need to run some
applications as a user on that domain.

Is it true that if your computer has not been joined to the domain,
there is no way to run an application as a user on that domain, even
if you can supply the credentials for that user?

That is correct because the user only exists as a domain user. If you
need to do this often, perhaps you could have the office's IT Dept. make
you a user account on their server. You don't have to join the domain to
use server resources.
