I've created rules to redirect some hig volume e-mail sources into folders
other than my Inbox. Hurray! Now, Outlook please stop alerting me like I
was getting an e-mial in my inbox. How to do this?

Check your rules. Find the rule for your high volume redirection and edit it
.. On the second step of editing "What do you want to do..." scroll down and
see if the box "play a sound" is checked. That might be your problem.

If not, you might just want to turn off the sound for all incoming messages.

Post once and wait for an answer.

The answer is, there's no way to stop it other than to turn off the alert
altogether. The alert occurs when messages arrive in your Inbox, prior to
your rules running.
