Rules not working

Andreas

I use Outlook07 and have configured many rules based on sender and subject
keywords. When I run the rule, only a few messages move to the folder I
defined. I have many rules because I filter based on keywords and so maybe I
have 50-60 rules. Is there a limit to the number of rules you can use? Maybe
this happens due to this number of rules? What else could be wrong?

Yes, there is a limit on the rules, however it is based on the
packet size. This means that it is not necessary the number of
rules, it could also be the complexity of the rules that you are
running. I can make one rule that is so complex, that it is too
big to fire.

I would start to test them by turning them off, then turn them on
one-by-one and see if you can find the culprit that way.

Look for the logic also, when this rule runs, what ALL is
effected. Example:

- Did you use the "Stop Processing more rules" if the email
fits this rule?

Also, rules run in order. The rule at the top runs first, then
the next rule runs, etc.

Server-based vs. client-based rules

I have included the link above to an excellent write-up on what to
look for that may be going astray with your rule.
