Rules not working

R

Richard Pierce

I have a rule which simply moves email to a folder if the subject contains a
phrase, or rather, that is simply what it should do. It doesn't work. I have
of course rechecked everything several times, with no change. This is an
IMAP account, moving a message to a local folder. Has anyone else
experienced this bug?

I've only used message rules with POP accounts, but it should
work the same. Each rule must end with "Stop processing more rules."

I also have "problems" with my rules. Just using them as killfiles (mark as
read; delete; don't process more rules). Used to kill ok and I never saw
killed messages at all. Now if I click on a NG, the group will load and
download messages. But if a "killed" message is downloaded, I can still see
the header, although not open the message. (problem with this message pane).
If I exit the NG and revisit, the killed message is gone. But if I Synch
all, then open the NG, no killed messages appear.

I'm sure WM just took it into its head to change its behaviour.

Perhaps if you Synch All before opening your NG the rules will move your
file.

Any more comments O wise Ones out there?

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely
foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Hard to say what the problem is. It might be an IMAP-related bug.
I haven't had any failures with the message rules for my POP accounts.

WM does not do a REFRESH of the display after updating the download header list.
use F5 to force a refresh,.
