Rt-click My Computer

Lately, when I right-click "My Computer" and select Properties, I get
"System Properties", with all of its six? tabs.

Am I not supposed to get a graphic showing it's a shortcut, and the
"Target"?

No, on every Windows system I've ever seen going back to '95, when you
right click on "My Computer" and select properties, the full "System
Properties" page is exactly what you get.

It's kind of semantic hair-splitting, Curt, but "My Computer",
"Recycle Bin" and "Internet Explorer" access on the desktop aren't
shortcuts in the same way that shortcuts you create yourself and put on
the desktop are. On any "system created" (permanent) "shortcut" on your
desktop, right clicking and choosing "Properties" might bring up any
number of things. On shortcuts you (or a program installation) create
on the desktop, right-click/Properties will always bring up the
properties sheet that includes path, target, "Change Icon", etc.

If you right-click on "My Computer", drag it out to the center of the
desktop and click "Create shortcut here", then you will have a shortcut
to My Computer that brings up a conventional property sheet.
