RSS Reader

Do you use an RSS reader and why is it any better than going to the
actual sites?

Depends on how many sites you choose to monitor ;)
Why waste time plodding around looking for relevant topics ?
Site 'trackers' tell you a site updated but few show if the
changes are interesting.

Most RSS gives a small headline packet of info on a site update
that can be scanned quickly for interest. Many RSS readers can then
display a thumbnail for visual confirmation which can quickly
enlarge to the full page.

A smaller number of RSS are complete self contained notifications,
my ISP has a status feed that only arrives when there is a problem.
Then a lot of software update nods arrive as complete changelogs when
something happens. I find RSS easier than trying to scan email
notifications.
