im trying to implement a simple lab setup consisting of a win2k3 ee r2
vpn rras server and win2k pro vpn clients. ive spent countless hours
reading article after article on the subject on various m$ windows
sites. however i cannot seem to find articles that give me all the info
i need. they're either based on other products (win2k server, xp pro,
etc) or speak entirely in concepts and lack the practical how-to's a
relative newb like myself needs.

back to what im trying to accomplish, could u provide me with some
links to articles describing how to setup an enterprise root ca for use
with an L2TP-based vpn on the aforementioned server?

yep, ive seen it. problem is, it uses far more machines than i have at
my disposal as well as xp as the client.

I know what you mean. When I was studying for the MCSE, I had my home office
set up with computers and a KVM. Then I read about Virtual PC
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx) and started using
it. Now I'm down to one machine with a lot of memory and 5 virtual machines.
A great test/study environment.
