RRAS router registering extra IPs to DNS

Aaron Seet

How can one prevent the RRAS VPN server from registering its PPP interface
IP addr for VPN connections to DNS server? As well as the PPP interface IP
addr it may get as a client machine on the remote branch VPN.

This is a server with only one network card, serving both LAN as well as
public PPTP via port forwarding from router.

Thanks,
Aaron

Yes both RRAS servers are DCs. Setting DNS to listen on their "true" IP
addresses appears to have stopped DNS from register A records for their
hostnames. However the domain name itself continues to register both the
RRAS listening as well as VPN client IP addresses. The registry key must be
inserted to disable this

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\DisableDynamicUpdate
= 1 (DWORD)

Aaron
