RRAS - PPTP server replying on private NIC?

Windows 2000 RRAS VPN (PPTP) not working. Traffic monitor on the Watchguard
Firebox shows that PPTP traffic is coming in on the public VPN server NIC,
which is OK, but the PPTP response from the VPN server back to the remote
access client is coming through the VPN server NIC on the private LAN.

????

Any assistance would be appreciated.

problem solved - removed default gateway from private NIC and added to
public
